Futurist Outlook and not Future'ism
در نیم قرن اخیر بحث های مفصلی در مورد تکامل آینده نگری مدرن صورت گرفته است.

به رغم همه این بحثها بسیاری برداشت غلطی از آینده نگری دارند. هفت سال پیش در
نوشتاری تحت عنوان "آینده نگری چیست" که به فارسی منتشر شد، آمده: "برخی فکر
میکنند آینده نگر بودن یعنی آینده معینی را از زاویه نظری برگزیدن، از زاویه تحلیلی
گرایش بسوی آنرا دیدن، و از زاویه عملی هم در شکل دادن آن مشارکت کردن. اگر معنای
آینده نگر بودن چنین بود، دیگر میبایست همه سوسیالیستها و کمونیستها در 200 سال
گذشته را آینده نگر تلقی میکردیم." (2)
متأسفانه در زبان انگلیسی واژه فیوچریسم می تواند برداشت غلطی را که در نوشتار
"آینده نگری چیست" مورد نقد قرار گرفته،
تداعی کند.
خوشبختانه در زبان فارسی آینده نگرها واژه "آینده نگر" را پذیرفته اند و از واژه
"آینده گرا" پرهیز کرده اند. واژه آینده نگر به روشنی داشتن توجه به آینده را در
نگرش ما نشان می
دهد و ابدا درکی نمی دهد که گویی آینده ای مشخص مدنظر است
که ما خود
را به آن متعلق
دانسته و در پی رسیدن به آن
هستیم.
در واقع این امر فقط اختلاف زبانی نیست و تفاوت اساسی میان اتوپیسم و آینده نگری
مدرن است. به همین دلیل نیز
آینده نگری
را می بایست در برخورد تحلیلی، نظری و مشارکتی به مسائل گوناگون در عرصه های مختلف
شناخت و نه آنکه فقط در موضوعات تکنیکی در مورد مبحث آینده نگری جستجو کرد. (3)

In the last half century, there have been extensive
discussions about the development of Modern Futurism. (1)
Despite all these discussions there is an erroneous
understanding about futurism as a "Future'ism." Seven years ago in a paper in
Persian entitled "What is Futurism?", I discussed that "Some people think to be
a futurist means to choose a specific future as a vision, and to move towards
it from an analytic angle and to participate in forming it from a
practical standpoint. If this was the meaning of being a futurist, then all
socialists and communists of the last 200 years should be considered futurists."

Unfortunately in English language the word "futurist" can
imply the above erroneous understanding which was criticized in the paper "what
is Futurism?"
Fortunately in Persian language, the futurists have accepted
the term "ayandehnegar" which means having a "future-oriented outlook" and
thus avoided
the term "ayandehgaraa" meaning "future'ism." The word "ayandehnegar" clearly
shows that we have future in view in our outlook and definitely it does not mean
that we have a certain future in mind to which to feel a belonging to strive to
reach.
In fact, the issue is not just a difference of language and
it constitutes the essential difference of Utopianism and Modern Futurism. This
is also why Futurism should be sought in an
analytical, visionary and participatory approach towards issues in various
topics and not be limited to technical subjects of future studies (3).
